The Apartment
Lovran is situated on the Adriatic coast in the Kvarner region. Lovran area has more than 100 years long touristic tradition. Because of climatic reasons — a perfect mixture of sea and forest air — the Habsburg monarchy chose to build winter residences here, leaving behind magnificent villas and a timeless coastal charm. Beside the magnificent architecture and the sea, Lovran and its surrounding also offer lots of green nature.
Villa Caterina was constructed in 1906, as the Habsburg monarchy was building winter homes along the Opatija Riviera. Its Venetian architect, Attilio Maguolo, was an Art Nouveau authority who became the most prolific builder in Lovran.
"We bought the ground floor apartment with the intention that guests could feel the atmosphere of that time," says Kristina, the owner. Italian terrazzo tiles, Slavonic oak herringbone floors, Zuchetti faucets, and a Duravit bath — every detail tells a story.
